Where to Get a Sleep Test in Kuwait

The first step to treating sleep apnea is getting a proper diagnosis from a specialist

A sleep test (polysomnography) is a specialized medical examination that records your body's activity during sleep to diagnose sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea. The test is typically conducted in a specialized sleep laboratory within a hospital, where you spend one night under medical supervision while sophisticated equipment records your brain waves, blood oxygen levels, heart rate, breathing patterns, and eye and leg movements. In Kuwait, several specialized centers are available for this test in both government and private hospitals.

What is a Sleep Study?

A sleep study is the globally recognized method for diagnosing sleep disorders. During the test, small painless sensors are attached to your body to monitor several vital functions during sleep. The test measures the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) which determines the severity of your condition: mild (5-14 events/hour), moderate (15-29 events/hour), or severe (30+ events/hour). Based on the results, your doctor determines the appropriate treatment and pressure settings for a CPAP machine.

What to Expect from a Sleep Test?

A sleep test (polysomnography) records your body's activity during sleep — breathing, heart rate, eye movement, and oxygen levels. You typically spend one night at the hospital or use a portable home testing device.
